Waiting time charges, second trip, and other accessorial fees may apply to cargo that is not ready
and accessible for pickup on the appointed pickup date.
When cargo requires local "pier delivery" trucking
for cargo that needs to go to a different export shipping terminal
within the same city
transfer from OA origin packing warehouse to the shipping pier/NVO receiving terminal:
add $1.25/cuft or 15-cents/lb (whichever is greater) - min $ 125, per one-way trip.
Depending on where the goods are coming from,
and where they are going to, it may be better
to have everything packed into
wooden liftvan crates.

Lift-vans are made specifically for the safe and secure transportion of
household goods and personal effects.
The cost for a single liftvan, ex-OA warehouse, is: $ 350.00

Do you have very fragile items?
Ask about fine art packing and crating service.
Have a "difficult job" needing unassembly of furniture, outdoor playgrounds, appliances, fixtures, lighting, chandeliers, rigging and hoisting...?
SEFCO is your direct source for reliable third party services, serving all of North America.
OS - Origin Service description:
Local Pickups - Trucking Only
(Not Movers)
Do you have a relatively small quantity of
pbo-packed by owner cartons of personal effects?
Will you need a "straight trucking pickup only" ?
Cost: Min $ 150 for dock to dock transport only, within 25-miles radius intra-city.
This is "line-haul trucking only" (without accessorial services)
Cost is pro-rated at 25-cents/lb per one-way trip, if above minimum charge.
Line-haul rates are higher for longer distance hauls (over 25-miles from the receiving warehouse).
We can send you a rate confirmation of the extra line-haul charge.
Simply tell us your origin zip code and approximate cargo weight.
The above linehaul trucking is good for pickup in most major US cities
and direct delivery to local export terminal.
It assumes that the pickup point is within
25-miles of our truckers dispatching warehouse.
If necessary to make a second trip, for re-delivery of cargo from the truckers terminal
to a packing warehouse or export terminal, the port transfer charge (noted above) will apply.
Line-haul truckers are not movers.
No labor, packing or other "accessorial services" included.
Linehaul Trucker accessorial services:
add $85 minimum, 10-cents/lb, for ground/street level pickup (pneumatic lift-gate truck)
(if not coming from a truck level loading dock).
add $85 min, 10-cents/lb, for trucks coming from (or going to) a private residence
(not to/from a standard commercial location).
Cargo needs to be staged and ready for pickup and shipper/client provides labor to load.
Inside pickups, driver + 2nd man helper - require a special quote.
Some pickups of personal effects are not suitable for a "trucker only"
and instead we will dispatch our professional movers.
Dispatching Professional Packers/Movers is very different
from dispatching a common carrier trucker.
Reservations for use of our full service, licensed/insured OA export packers/movers,
need to be made weeks in advance with deposit received by our main office.
Bookings for vessel space and reservations for packers/truckers are made on a "first come first served basis."
This "straight trucking only" service covers pickup of prepacked, secured and staged cartons
- preferably already secured on a pallet,
coming from curbside street (not inside from domicile). If 50+ cartons that need to be individually carried/handled,
that would be best handled by our professional movers.
Trucking charge is for a one way trip. Normal package dimensions, weights and access is assumed.
Operationally, this "straight trucking only" service is typically performed by our airport-based common carrier truckers.
The tasks we assign to these "air truckers" usually relates to the collecting of a smaller amount of cartons (no furniture).
Remember: A trucker pickup is not the same as having movers in-residence.
The rates noted above are good for trucking pickups within most major US cities and airport and seaport areas.
Intracity Re-Delivery:
If short distance re-delivery is needed (a second trip) to transfer cargo to a different export terminal,
add $1.00/cuft or 10-cents/lb (whichever is greater) - min $ 75 (within 5 miles of truckers/dispatchers hub, excludes tolls).
Pier delivery locations can vary with every booking. Routing and charges for your specific shipment can be confirmed in writing by a SEFCO representative.
These rates are also applicable for inbound/import delivery from most major US airport gateways, for delivery service from US airport to door.

Professionally Export Blocking / Bracing and Loading of Vehicles
Vehicles are loaded from our designated loading docks.
Sefco Export CFS locations include:
Bayonne, NJ - Baltimore, MD - Miami, FL - Los Angeles, CA Yokohama, Japan - Naples, Italy
Prices for port-warehouse "origin services" depend on location.
Origin warehouse stuffing/securing charges, exclude additional charges:
pickup, container drayage/trucking, origin port THC, ocean freight/handling, export customs clearance,
and any accessories fees (including/not limited to: towing charges for non-operable vehicles).
Depending on the origin location/nation, port agent handling fees vary widely
and have to be confirmed per shipment.
Necessary Pre-Shipment Documentation
VID vehicle identification numbers have to be entered into a database,
and full shipper/consignee information needs to be provided to our company and checked
in the Government database to conform with USG Treasury regulations (OFAC Office of Foreign Assets Control).
There is a list of "Denied Parties" against which the shipper/consignee information has to be checked and screened.
These checks must be done in advance of the shipment of any freight.
In the United States: Average origin-warehouse cost is approximately $ 550 for "vehicle stuffing/securing" into an ocean container (1-unit) plus additional trucking costs.
Trucking rates can average $ 650-800 for 1-container round-trip "drop/pick" at warehouse door, within 25 miles of most major US ports.
"Drop/picks" require 2-trips by the port trucker. Rates for service from non-US ports are quoted on a case by case basis.
All rates must be reconfirmed in writing within 30 days of service performance. Gas prices have been scaling dramatically upward and
trucking/freight rates are subject to any BAF fuel surcharges in effect and applicable at time of actual shipment.
Procedures:
The export documentation and clearance procedures in world ports can vary greatly, and can differ depending on the method of shipping (eg., via RORO vessel or via FCL container-ship).
Often, the export clearance procedure for US Titled Vehicles, is easiest when shipped from the US by the RORO vessel method.
The owner can self-clear their original paperwork at the same time that the unit is delivered to the port.
In some major RORO ports (eg. Baltimore), the US Customs station is very close to the RORO pier. However, in some other major ports (eg. Houston) the US Customs office and the port receiving terminal are far apart.
RORO Exports from the EU and its various major RORO ports, is likewise easier in some places (eg. Bremerhaven, Amsterdam), and not so simple, in other ports. ASK US for our suggestions.
If a titled vehicle is FCL containerized, the handing of the original title is more complicated and will often require the use of messenger services.
Depending on the destination (eg. Ecuador) vehicles may have to be inspected at the origin loading warehouse by a private/Government sanctioned outside inspection company, for an additional fee (eg. SGS inspections).
If containerized additional documentation, export clearance and administrative handling charges will be required. Administrative handling charges vary from country to country, and agent to agent.
Some origin locations have traditionally been much more expensive (eg., Switzerland, Japan) than others (eg., Bayonne, NJ CFS warehouse).
Some ports of export, charge a duty/tax on top of the freight charges (eg. Paraguay). Some nations have very strict procedures for certain exports, to protect against the export of their national heritage and antiquities (eg. Poland).
Please check with the Embassy/Consulates of the origin/destination to get a fix on your own particular export/import requirements.
Currency Adjustment Factors:
Origin services performed outside the US are paid in the local currency which means there is a CAF currency adjustment factor and banking fees to handle/convert and transfer funds.
It is important to recognize trends relating to the value of the US Dollar vs. the local currency. Services paid in EUROS cost much more in 2007/2008 ($1.43 USD to $1 EUR ) than when it was first introduced ($0.85 USD to 1 EUR).
The Yen to the USD also has fluctuated greated over several years time. The Swiss Franc is pegged to the EURO so payments in SWF are likewise much higher now 2007/2008 in USD terms, than several years ago.
Advice:
Surf our web site for free guidance. On some steamship line routes, SPACE can be very tight.
Reservations are recommended 2-months in advance for certain high demand trade lanes.
Some frequently served EU destination ports, have frequest sailings, quick transit times, and no long waiting times.
Loading at a CFS warehouse? Exactly WHERE is the warehouse being employed for the task at hand?
If its very conveniently located next to the port itself, chances are the costs will be higher for use of the prime location, than a warehouse in the hinterlands.
Are you requesting service at a "peak time"? It is important to book the specific job-order well in advance of when the cargo is to arrive at a CFS warehouse.
Costs and availabilities all depends on your actual origin/destination and proposed shipping date. ASK US for further details.
When vehicles are containerized, the additional costs (origin/destination services) can result in an overall cost that can be a multiple several times over, compared to the cost for RORO service from port to port only.
This is why there is a very high demand for SPACE on RORO vessels.
Timing: SEFCO can arrange for export/import of vehicles via air-freight. This option is not cheap, and requires the shipper to become a "known shipper" and undergo pre-shipment security checks that can
effect the timing of the export. If you are an "unknown shipper" and are requesting air service, expect long delays due to TSA security checks.
ASK US for further details.
