F I F O
First in, First out.
Refers to the manner in which steamship line port terminal operators
organize cargo coming in to their terminal. Cargo that arrives first, goes on the first available vessel.
Cargo that comes in thereafter, wait in turn to go out. Once a vessel fills up to capacity, it is closed out.
Any remaining cargo goes on the next vessel departing from that port terminal.
