Notice the large ramp built onto the rear of the vessel. That is where "rolling equipment" moves in and out of the ship. Space on-board RoRo vessels is in great demand. The RoRo vessel featured here is flagged in Singapore. Sefco Export arranges for the reservation of space on such vessels and performs freight forwarding services for processing export documents and related services on behalf of shippers from around the world. Sefco can confirm the ocean shipping rates charged by the SS Lines for specific cargo that needs to be shipped within a 60-day timeframe. The freight has to be "real" and Sefco quotes shipping rates to the party responsible for paying. we recommend submitting the B/R booking request at least 60 days before they need to ship. Space on most RoRo capable vessels is hard to come by and often cargo has to wait for space to open up, before a SS Line will provide the very important "booking number" for any shipment space reservation. Rates can and do change over time, depending on the price of fuel, port congestion, market demand and many other factors. Most cargo is handled on a FIFO - first come basis; often the SS Lines give top priority to their largest customers (e.g., US Government). The rate quotations received by Sefco from the SS Lines - for ocean freight and related charges ...are always: "subject to space and availability". All shipments move on a prepaid basis only. Some SS lines have weekly sailings, other SS lines may have one a month with a two month wait for space. Sefco quotations will generally show current expected conditions for the route to be used. Our extensive website has more information relayed to us from the various SS Lines and overseas agents. Return often, to see the latest updates and advisories. We will continue to provide general updates on current conditions felt in the international shipping market. As a start, we have found that "seeing is believing". Therefore, we will continue to post images that may be interesting and of educational value for our current and prospective clientele. This slide show has 165 images.
